4.What do you feel is the purpose of the hunger games?
I think it's a wonderful but horrible idea to have the hunger games. It's good purpose because it shows people there place. To never rebel again and to follow orders. It's a bad purpose because children have to fight to the death thats not fair for those poor children. They should think of other  ways of keeping people from rebelling.Show them that they do care about there people instead of having the games and booming district 13 .

CHAPTER 9:The Hunger Games

1. Describe Katniss’ interview attire and training? What affect do you think it had on the audience?
Katniss' attire was a dress completely covered in precious gems, red, yellow, and white with bits of blue. Katinss was stage frightened because there was a lot of people.

CHAPTER 7 QUESTIONS: The Hunger Games

2.. What reasons does Peeta give for thinking Katniss will be better than him in the arena?
The reason that Peeta thinks that Katniss will be better in the arena is because he knows that Katniss is good at aiming with a bow and arrow. I think Katniss is very good at the bow and arrow because she's been good at hunting for years. Gale doesn't really have any experiencein hunting, but Katniss is good at it so she could teach Gale.

The pro's are that someone will know the others persons secret skill and strength so someone will know how your gonna have to kill that person. The con's are for being trained together are that you'll have to get trained at the same speed even though if one is better than the other one.

An Avox is someone who commited a crime. They cut their tongue so they won't speak.Katniss knows the Avox when Haymitch mentioned the word traitor she remembered from where.Even that she looks famaliar. Also she realized that she's a dead ringer for Delly. And, something about her eyes t00.
2. What prevents tributes from jumping  off the roof? Why do you think this is in place?
The thing that prevents tributes from jumping off the roof is there is a sharp zap. Some kind if electric field throws you back om the roof.I think this is in place so the ttributes won't fall and get hurt or die. Also, because it sould push anybody back up on the roof. And, because they wouldn't want someone to fall even from someone in the Districts

3. What reasons would Peeta have for being curious about Gale?
Well, maybe Peeta has feelings for Katniss and he is jealous about Gale. Maybe he thought if he was Katniss' relative, he still would have had a chance with her. Or maybe, something happened between him and Gale, something bad, and that is stained in his memory.

CHAPTER 5 QUESTIONS: The Hunger Games

2. Compare and contrast life in the Capitol to life in District 12.
In the Capitol all they care about is how they look. In district 12 its all about trying to stay alive. District 12 is a place were you can starve you work hard to stay alive and just get food on there plates . The Capitol is where people are rich and they can buy and support them selves.

Peeta is being very friendly with Katniss. Katniss thinks he's trying to lure him in. She believes he is decieving her. I would think the same thing. They are about to rip eachother's heads off she cant trust anyone. She returns the trickery by kissing him on the cheek.

-"Dont be so stupid. Peeta is planning how to kill you, I remind myself. He is luring you in to make you easy prey. The more likeable he is, the more deadly he is."(72)

1. The presentation of the tributes seems to be greatly focused on visual presentation and looks — what does this reveal about the belief systems of the Capitol?
I think this reaveals that the capitol thinks that fashin is more important. The tributes neesd to dress up nicely because so they get tributes. That sucks because if they don't look pretty they won't get sponsors.

CHAPTER 4 QUESTIONS: The Hunger Games

1. Do you think Haymitch will be helpful as a mentor? Why or why not?
I partly don't think he will be a good mentor because most of the time he is drunk and he just hit Peeta because he got mad at him.But he might be a good one because he has already gone through the games.

2. What does Katniss mean when she says: “A Kind Peeta Mellark is far more dangerous to me than an unkind one”?
I think she means that kind people mess with her more .She might fall for their lies easily.
Its a problem because if he is acting nicewith her, it will be harder for her to kill him. If it was an unkind person she wouldn't have that much of a problem.
3.      What happens to convince Haymitch that Peeta and Katniss might be fighters?
Peeta drops Haymitch’s glass on the floor and Haymitch punches Peeta in the jaw. Then Katniss drives her knife between Haymitch’s hand and the bottle he was about to pick up. That is when Haymitch actually considers if those two might be fighters.

4.       What is the first honest advice Haymitch gives them?

CHAPTER 3 QUESTIONS: The Hunger Games

2. What does Madge give Katniss as a gift? What significance does it have?
Madge's gift that she gave to Katniss is her gold pin. This pin reminded Katniss from where she came from. Tribute's are allowed to wear one thing that reminds them of something. The Pin is a Mocking Jay.

How does Katniss save her sister from the reaping?

Katniss saves her sister from the reaping by volunteering herself as tribute, which hasn't happened in a long time.
So, everybody "touches three middle fingers of their left hand to their lips and held it out to her".
It was a little weird because they only do that at funerals or when they are saying goodbye to a loved one.
2. Who is the boy tribute selected? How did he save Katniss life when she was 11?
the boy tribute selected for the hunger games was peeta mellark. he goes to her school. The way he saved her was when she was 11 and she was almost dying of hunger.
Then peetas mother told him to give the burn bread to the pigs.
Even though he new he would get beaten up he gave it to katniss and that bread gave her hope to move on and she went with her family and ate the burned bread.
"in his arms,he carried two large loaves of bread that must have fallen into the fire because the crusts were scorched black."
3. What kind of person do you think Peeta is? What evidence from the book led you to come to this conclusion?
i think that peeta is a very kind and caring boy who helps and gives.
4. Why does seeing the dandelion after her father's death give Katniss hope?
When she saw the dandelion, Katniss gained hope. She remembered all the things her dad taught her about hunting. She could hunt things down for food.
She could gather things for trade.
Also, she was going to get a tesserae in order to get grain and oil in March 8th
because he gave bread to katniss when she really needed it was what made me come with this conclusion of peetas way.
Quotes"But, in district 12, where the word is synonymous with the word corpse, volunteers are all but extinct."
"Starvation's not an uncommon fate in district 12."
"I thought of the hours spent in the woods with my father and I knew how we were going to survive."
